Church of Jesus Pentecostal Inc. was founded on October 31, 1980 by the late Bishop Bennie and First Lady Mozell Mitchell Sr, in the home of Brother Curtis and Sister Emmie Mitchell. The congregation later moved to 312 McDonough Boulevard-Atlanta, Georgia. God's anointing was definitely present as souls were saved, and many miracles of healings and deliverance took place. Obeying God’s instructions to build a church for the people to worship, Bishop and First Lady Mitchell set out to look for some land. After meeting with Mr. & Mrs. Hardy and sharing their vision to build a church, they experienced power with God and the favor of man. The property was purchased on Jonesboro Road and the dedication service was held in the summer of 1985.
On October 13, 1990, following 14 years of recurring brain cancer and surgeries, God saw fit to call First Lady Mozell home. After many obstacles and setbacks, on July 9, 1994 the vision came to fruition and the Church Of Jesus, was dedicated unto God. Bishop Mitchell continued to encourage the people to hold on and stand on the promises of God’s word; “we shall not be moved because Jesus said to Peter, upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. Matthew 16:18 (KJV)
In 2012, after the sudden illness of Bishop Mitchell, his daughter, Pastor Valerie J. Mitchell accepted the position as Senior Pastor of Church Of Jesus on June 1, 2014. With the vision to see the legacy of her parents fulfilled, Pastor Valerie Mitchell worked untiringly, serving the congregation, praying, encouraging, preaching, and teaching the word of God until her untimely demise in 2017.
Shortly after her elevation to glory, the congregation began to seek God's directions in search for a new pastor. District Elder Larry C. Dunning, Jr., was invited to shepherd the church during the transition and preside over the search and selection of a new pastor. In June of 2018, Bishop Freddy & First Lady Niya Motin were introduced as the new Senior Pastors of the Church Of Jesus.
On March 1, 2019, after serving faithfully alongside Bishop Freddy & First Lady Niya Motin, Elder Myraio L. Mitchell Sr. was ordained and appointed as the Assistant Pastor of Church Of Jesus by Bishop Freddie Motin. After serving the ministry and congregation faithfully for three years, the time came for Bishop Freddy & First Lady Niya Motin to explore what God has in-store as they move on from this vineyard as Senior Pastors. Upon sharing their resignation as Senior Pastors of Church Of Jesus Apostolic Ministries, Bishop Motin appointed Pastor Myraio L. Mitchell Sr. his successor, as Senior Pastor of Church Of Jesus Apostolic Ministries.
Today, we are eternally grateful to God and triumphantly celebrate our new Senior Pastors, Myraio and Lady Shera Mitchell Sr.
